6 Bulb IceCap T-5 Retro Pendant

Hey all,

I have been working on a DIY build that I figured some may get some ideas from it. I am building a 6 bulb IceCap T-5 fixture. The fixture will be mounted within my canopy with the ability to raise and lower the fixture within the canopy for easy feeding. It is not finished yet but here is my progress so far:

Parts Used (for fixture):

16' 1.5" 90 degree angle aluminum

24 1" SS bolts and nylock nuts (for mounting the standoffs)

1/4" aluminum rivets

20' 1/2" ...

Jason is thinking of doing something like this for our light. In fact, I think he's out working on it right now. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1871041 Ours would be wood sided, have holes w/out fans on the top and, it will sit right on top of the aquarium. I believe he still plans to mount a fan on each side one facing out and one, in. Does this plan seem OK? I'm concerned about salt creep.

Refugium Question

I have a 30 gallon tank that I'm gonna use beneath my display tank. I'm going to put my skimmer there as well. Any ideas as to how I can put baffles into it so i can add sand, rocks etc? I think I saw somewhere on one of these forums that you can silicone acrylic onto glass...Is that correct. If that's the case, did someone here have acrylic pieces that could be cut and that they maybe don't want?

Thanks guys:)

This is the beginnings of a new project.
This will become a 14" cube. It's 1/4" plate glass. The glass is from a piece that I found. I cut the glass myself using a hand cutter and a T-square. It took a little while to get decent cuts, but I am happy with how it turned out for my first piece.

HSC Sump Makeover.

We've been having some issues with our sump. So I decided it was time for a makeover. I will be dividing up the sump into three chambers. Drain, Skimmer, and Return.

This is what I've started with. The first step will be to remove the one short baffle on the right side of the sump, and the two braces.

Here it is with everything removed.

I used a Dremel vibrating saw to cut through everything. It worked beautifully.

Flexible PVC Cement?

Does anyone know if the Oatey brand "Flexible PVC Cement" is okay to use on SW/reef tanks?

I found some spa-flex tubing and need to modify my return flow back into the tank. When I did my PVC plumbing a year ago, I had to use a section of clear tubing with metal hose clamps on the return bulkhead. The clamps are showing rust and I really dont want an "overflow" of some sort. At that time I used the 2-part purple primer combo of PVC cement on the PVC plumbing. How does ...

Now that things are cleared up we have a massive growth of things that we have no idea what are if anybody could help that would be awesome. I just want to make sure that everything that is growing is going to be safe to let run its course. Also since the tank crash we have been seeing these new little worms in our tank, they are not bristle worms they are white/clear almost look like centipeds?? Anybody have any ideas..

Hi All,

After using a friend's food that he made I started to notice my fish were healthier and fatter. I ran out of the food so I used his recipe as a starter and changed a few things. Since I only have a 75G, I made less food and the only difference was the color when done. His was a bit more red than mine. It was taste tested last night and the fish love it. I figured I'd toss up the recipe and pictures for reference...
