Alright guys, I've decided to jump into the saltwater hobby! I've purchased a 29 gallon Eclipse aquarium, and I have lighting (two 24" T8s/T12s, was told with one 20k and one actenic that would be enough for hard corals), filtration (biowheel with live rock when I get it, and probably a skimmer), and a heater (150 glass). Oh and 30lbs dry sand. I plan on getting a powerhead, and live rock, obviously.

I'm waiting until I move up to BSU to my house for school to stock it though. So ...

mn reef crzy thanks for the links a couple other questions I haven't found the answer to yet. Ok after the read I decided to do a kalk drip as it would save some money and didn't seem to be any more work than I was used to with my old planted tank. I built a kalk dripper for $15 whioch is a jug, air valve, jg fitting, and 1 lb of mrs wages pickleing lime. I am starting with 1 gal water and 1 tsp kalk is this sound like a good starting point and up weekly till is where it needs to be? I seen the ...

I have a 29g Biocube and it comes with a small sump the majority (2nd area) filled with bio-balls. The purpose of these are supposed to provide a bazillion surfaces for water to trickle over and oxegenate and get ride of bad.

Question: do they work? Is there a down side? Is there a better way?

My next project is to try to build an ATS (algae scrubber) to help me control that growth in my tank. I am in the planning stages now trying to figure out should I build a full blown fuge ...

I was looking at my tank after my sons birthday party and noticed a new addition to my small aquadic family. To add to the one brown polyp and one button mushroom I have. The tank has began to sprout 3 feather dusters. The amazement and wonder in my kids eyes when they saw them for the first time was priceless. This tank has been the best investment for my family I have made in a long time. I wish everyone could experience this hobby.
