Opinions on adding a new fish

Post by tinkerman on Sat Feb 06, 2010 12:12 am

I have a fish on order and not sure on some tankmates getting along. I have the clown tang already and have a Desjardini tang on order. I am going to make a divider to stick in the tank to seperate them and see how they do unless anyone has any better ideas. Would this be the best way of going about this? I really like both fish and if it comes down to it I may have to make a decision on which to keep. $85 is alot to take this gamble with, but the clown doesn't seem to be aggressive with any of the tankmates so far. Thanks for any input.

I have an acc;limation box you could use to try... it is small but as long as the sailfin isn't too big he might be ok for a litle bit while you let the other tank mates get used to him... Shoot me a message if you want to check it out. I'll be back in town Sunday evening...

Thanks for the offer cdness, I got a peice of acrilic last night and if it doesn't turn out I will probably take you up on the offer. I have a large coming shaun said shoul be 4-5 in so should be alittle bigger than the clown.

Ok got my divider done yesterday. Acrilic is really hard to take pics of. It turned out pretty good I think.

Well got the new tang. Have it floating in the tank and so far the clown tang doesn't seem to be bothered by it. Doen't seem to be checking it out either. Anyone think I would need to put the divider in even? Got a few other fish also went a little over board but have all the fish I have wanted to get now. 2 chalk bass small maybe 1 1/2 in, 1 McCoskeri wrasse same size as chalk bass, 1 flame Angel 2-2 1/2 in, and the Desjardini sailfin tang 4-5 in.

Seems to be ok. Didn't put the divider up. Clown tang seems to be keeping its distance. Fins are flared on both. Haven't seen the chalk bass or new wrasse since they were added, but the bass were hiding under a rock in the store and these guys are alot smaller than most of the fish in the tank. Will have to give it some time and hope for the best.

I don't see why it would be a problem unless your tank is smaller! i'v seen many diff kind of tangs all together and they have no problems with eachother so... through it in

Everyone seems to be doing good yet not much fin flaring. Seen the chalk bass and wrasse today when I feed the tank, they look like they might be getting picked on abit but ok. Will post some pics when everyone comes out of hiding. Thanks for the help everyone.

Lost in it all Tank has a 2 ft tall canopy on it only openings are holes for cords on back. So they'll have to have some pretty good aim to make it out.

Okay, just checking, did u make it in to lfs last night? check out the shark egg along with the amazing order that came in. I think my family is addicted to fish and coral. GF is talking about stopping in to pick up a fish for her tank before we even take the newborn boy home from the hospital is that a sign?
