Post by tinkerman on Sat Jun 27, 2009 1:46 pm

I got a couple new corals yesterday and a unsure about the low, med, high flow. Anyone help with numbers for pumps for a 125, I have 2 aqua clear 70's and 3 maxi jet 1200's 1 with mod prop. Have a rio 3100 for return with head getting about 600-650 gph.

What corals do you have and what ones are looking to house? It somewhat depends on the corals you wana have some need lots some need just a litte flow. But i wana say you need like 40X flow of the tanks size. For me i need med flow so i have about 25-30x my flow.

FIY good flow is a must for reef tanks.

Right now I have 1 maxi jet with 1600 gph and 1 ac70. added a Macrodactyla Doreensis and a plate coral. The Macrodactyla Doreensis just gets blown around and the plate isn't expandeding all the way. The maxi and ac are pionted straight acoss the tank long wy and mid way.
