Re: fish foods
make your own food with fresh stuff from the asian market. My fish LOVE the stuff I make and it is very healthy for them. Even the Achilles is fat and healthy.

Re: fish foods
I bought the bag of fresh from asian market, but how do you chop it up. My wife does not want me to use her food processor. (see lyrics to the man's song) i have obtained most of the ingredients for the recipe listed a couple months ago. Was that you that made that recipe? Anyway, alot of the nutrient additives and vitamins I have not purchased yet. I have been dicing which is not small enough nor consistent enough. I have looked for a small hand held puree, either inadequate or too expensive.

Re: fish foods
Thank you Brandon, I will check it out at LFS. I bought a pack of Krill and a pack of Mysis but they are too big and won't eat it. Picky fish. The Krill I bought are small chopped, but still too big it just floats a bit and the crabs get it. Mine like brine and Formula one. Is it okay to give them brine shrimp every day? I was told don't do that.

brine or baby brine for really small fish are ok but nutritionally unless they are enriched or gutpacked they are kinda like potato chips....also I believe either Hikari or PE mysis are smaller than other brands (I've only got ocean nutrition and my little clowns refused to eat it they'd suck it halfway in and spit it back out.) Most all fish love brine and even reluctant feeders tend to eat brine though...heck I've even watched my scooter chase them down.

Re: fish foods
I throw everything in the blender and chop to consistancy. My brother came over last weekend and we made our second batch, alittle chunkier this time, last time was almost a mush.

Re: fish foods
yeah use a blender. I use both a small chopper and a blender to make mine. Make sure the blender is a glass blender and you won't leave any smell. Just do it when the wife is gone and you'll be fine. Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission sometimes

I just read this to the wife. Problem is I have asked for forgiveness too many times, we have been married 31 years, and she has a good memory, at least for transgression. Not for her car keys. ahahhahaha

Re: fish foods
OK, new plan since the first one was foiled by reading it to the wife... send her on one of those "spa days" then make the food while she's gone. Preemptive forgiveness as she can't get mad at you after you send her out on a spa day...
Or if that won't work, there must be someone on the forums that's close by and not emotionally attached to their blender who could help you out... If you come to Fargo you can use mine.
If that doesn't work either there's always garage sales, thrift stores, and the occasional department store clearance to get a blender specifically for fish food... I would recommend a full size blender as those magic bullets and slap chop things are just way too inefficient for making larger batches of food.

Re: fish foods
Ditto on the full sized blender. Mine is always full from putting a variety of things in when we make a batch.
Although I see where you're going with the spa day
, it might be cheaper to just get yourself a dedicated blender. As mentioned earlier, check thriftshops, goodwill etc. They are for sale all the time!
That's one nice thing about having the "wife" involved. I WANT to use our blender to make food cuz it's so good for the critters. I just wash ours with a lot of care and several times afterward.
