Nudibranch wars!

Post by phoenix-cry on Wed Oct 13, 2010 6:50 pm

So I noticed that some of my zoa were closed up today. On closer inspection I found a very very very tiny yellow and orange nudibranch munching on a half closed zoa. I was able to manually remove this nudibranch, and I took the chunk of zoa it was on and gave it a melafix dip, but no more came out. If I find one nudibranch there must be more...right? Anyway, any tips on wining the war against nudibranch? I can't remove and dip everything (I did dip everything *before* placing it in the tank...but clearly the dip didn't get rid of all the slugs).

Dip what you can and redip what you can. Thay are bad litteAholes. Stay on top by pulling them out by hand.

I've heard the dip doesn't really work and I've never had one come out during a dip... But they are evil and I will keep up with the manual removal.

I pulled another one out today! Grrrr! I had to remove it with a dental pick and in doing so I smushed it a little. I tried to scrap all of the nudi off the rock, hopefully it didn't release any eggs...do they do that?

Revive Coral cleaner, works really well for me I've gotten them a few times. and dip them in Revive for about 3 mins every once in awhile I would shake the rock and they would be out crawling around. then after I dipped them in Reveive I would give them an Iodine dip, I use Seachems Reef dip.

I had them for a while, I think my big bristle worm ate them all. I vac'd a few with a turkey baster, about 10 or so. Then they just went away.

The turkey baster is a good move, like a slurp gun! I have bristle worms, hopefully they'll eat them!

Revive is a good dip... I use that as the final dip for all my corals before they touch the tank.

yeah corals that go in my tank get dipped to before they go in my main tank, I've gotten corals from some that have came out of there hospital tanks and got dipped in Revive and you should of seen the things that comes out of them.
