They will eat what ever they find in the LR/LS and any food that the fish do not eat

Okay, thanks Garrett. I don't have any fish yet, so haven't fed anything. I think the sand had a ton of junk in it.

Got it from Scott at All Aquatic Pets. He is closing his Elk River store location and going back home.

No, I bought the live rock, I think, sometime in July/August and it had been stewing in garbage can with heater and airstones since. Mom passed away in mid-August, so everything got put on hold.

If you aren't feeding anything I would drop in some pellets every other day or so. The snails will eat algea, if they run out they will die and if the hermits aren't fed they may start snacking on the snails. You can clip some seaweed sheets in there too.

Good idea with the seaweed. I have some that i used to give to my freshwater fish. I am assuming that both hermits and snails will eat it, correct?

Hi Karl,
I think all is going okay. Put rocks in 2 weeks ago with a little sand, then got the rest of the sand put in on the 15/16th. OMG, what a mess. Sand wz so dirty. couldn't see any of the rocks in the tank to know where I wz placing sand. Then, all the sand dust settled onto rocks. Couldn't leave it that way, so had to move and readajust rocks. thought at that time I'd do PVC riser pipe to elevate rocks, but really hard to get stability with them, so used a couple & gave up for time being. Dust finally settled in display mid week. The sump is still cloudy if I disturb the pump or the rocks in there. Got some hermits and nas. snails when I got the rock. They seem to be doing okay. May try to do a H2O chg. this week. Dont know if I should or not. Haven't tested other than salinity with refract., What is the point right now? Gotta get an ammonia and nitrate test kit,. I got one for reef tstg, but didn't include the above.
Im not sure how to post picts. Its hard to get good picts. Have to experiment with the camera for exposure etc.

Thanks Chris, had some green seaweed and the snails liked it. where can i find purple nori? Any in Fargo/Moorhead?
I'd like to increase the cleanup crew, but my tank has only been up and going for about a week so I'd probably be pushing it by adding more at this stage...
