roof leakage

Post by schaver on Tue Dec 30, 2008 2:41 pm

anybody know how to get rid of a 6-8 ice dam on a steel roof ?? went into the kitchen later morning and lo&behold a leak in the ceiling again, thought we fixed that problem 2 yrs ago. I'm sure the ice is pushing up over the steel seams. worst part is i have a snow rake and didn't think with the steel i would need it but guess what i should have. I'm thinking of taking a brush torch up on the roof to melt the ice. i dont think heat tape will work fast enough. Any other ideas would be helpfull.

get rid of the snow first then be careful with the ice, a torch is not the best choice, use the heat tape or do a water change on your tank and pour saltwater on the ice. I threw mine on the street and it melted right down to the blacktop.
