What Brand of Heater?

Post by Dedex on Tue Jan 06, 2009 9:42 pm

I need to purchase a couple of heaters - one for the 10G and one for a spare. Does anyone have insight on what brand(s) they feel are the best?

Oh and the visitherm I have the regular kind, not the stealth, I don't like those as you can't tell when they are on or if they are working, I bought one and the stupid thing never worked.

I sure wish I could make it to more meetings...with being the owner of a store that is open from 5am-10pm (some days until 11pm), 7 days a week-365 days a year, and having a fulltime job, on top of being a mom of three young kids, it is almost virtually impossible! I do love the meetings when I get to go, but lately, it just isn't in the cards. Besides, I thought that is why this forum is here for people who need answers, so they can turn to other reefers? I may not be "new to the hobby" but so much if this is still "new" to me. I apologize if I misinterpreted that...

Some cheapo from the pet store, I'd never heard of it before. Don't buy a cheapo!!! I don't remember but I can check next time I go there. It wasn't a big name brand or anything.

These forums are for any question or a place to get others opinions on something. the only dumb question in this hobby is one that hasn't been asked so you ask anything and someone will give you there opinion or experience or feedback.

I have had good luck with titanium heaters in the past but right now i am using a glass one, problem is that i wouldnt rely on it in a million years. It should have a controller that does not sit in the water, the controller on the glass one i have sits right on top of the heater. The only reason i use it cause my aquacontroller turns it on and off so i dont have to worry about failure.
